I took a bit of a sabbatical and am returning to the workforce. The demand for my usual "niche" in software is dying and supply is extremely over saturated. What skills, tech stacks, languages, or libraries are absolutely the most in demand for jobs and highest paying as of April 2024? Evidence for your answers would be extremely appreciated! |

You find jobs with the same skills that have always worked:
- Good communication.
- Business domain expertise.
- Can solve problems and add business value.
- Understand software and infrastructure fundamentals.
- Work with legacy code.
- Relational databases and SQL.
- Effective right away.
I've seen demand for cloud infrastructure, system administration, and security expertise. Find a niche that doesn't attract a lot of people chasing the money with the same small toolbox.
