I moved to Navidrome a few months ago, I only listen to the same few albums. Didn't make much sense to cough up the 11 quid to stick with it.

I am thinking about setting up a closet server running Navidrome and some other things.

Do you think Navidrome works good? Are there any Android app for offline plays, for the car?

Tempo is great, it supports offline play and Android auto

Yeah, for the most part, few things I wouldn't have done but you're getting Navidrome as a Subsonic-compatible server.

That lets you play your stuff from very good clients like Feishin, rather than the web client.

Don't know about Android, have a search for "subsonic" on the Play Store / F-Droid, and you'll definitely find something.

I have "AV Sub" on iOS, and that integrates with CarPlay.
