The term appears to be "alien" .. Title 8—Aliens and Nationality CHAPTER I—DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY SUBCHAPTER B—IMMIGRATION REGULATIONS PART 214—NONIMMIGRANT CLASSES https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/8/214.2 makes NO use of the term "illegal alien" Searching that Title 8 returns hits on constructs such as "aliens who illegally" but NO hits on "illegal alien". Undocumented aliens are not always illegally within the USofA, they have alien status and lack documentation.
