I don't think that was what the parent I replied to meant by "checkpoints" when he said

FC1 checkpoints were game progression checkpoints. FC2 checkpoints were in-game road checkpoints.

I did mean the autosave checkpoints (and never played FC2).

So attacking, in the end load again, different strategy ..
