Ask HN: How to communicate with someone incase your incomming mails are blocked?
1 points by ditpoo 818 days ago
I'm in a situation where mails send by others to me are blocked and I can only send mails and can't receive mails, i.e outgoing mails are working fine but there is no incoming mails to my account. I'm not sure how this is accomplished but can anyone suggest any ways to overcome this or a secure way to communicate with via mail, I'm trying to communicate with government officials, lawyers and journalists as I'm in a certain situation where I need help from them.

Did you turn on a feature in your email client to block addresses not in your contact list?

If not, some ISP's let you set up a second email address, or an alias that sends incoming mail to your existing inbox.

No I didn't change any settings, I'm using google workspace on top of my own domain so not sure what is causing this block.
Based on what you said is blocked I think email is out of the picture. Is there a reason you can not call them on the phone and/or use voice calls to set up Zoom calls?
I want a trial of mail that can be shared with others, rather than call recordings and video recordings, that can't be shared that easily and would be far greater in size.
Also to establish that kind of contact, where I can communicate via call or video, I need their contact details, right now all I have is email ids.
right now all I have is email ids

If the lawyers are not using the domain of their law firm are you sure you are dealing with real lawyers and not scammers? If it is the domain of their lawfirm then you should be able to get contact information off their website. Something is off about all of this.

No, I mean I'm using a email service on top of my own domain, and the people I want to contact only have their email ids listed online and I want to have contact via email prior to having a voice call or video call for which I need a two way communication via email.
Belive it or not, that's my current situation
use another email account
No that won't work, I want to use the email registered on my domain, also I think the problem would continue in other accounts as well.
