Turns out that the striatum has two areas that are over-connected to it. One deals with immediate external information, and the other, the default mode network, is in operation when no other interesting stimulus is available--daydreaming? Why do they procrastinate? Both of those areas are overconnected compared to the future weighing area in the prefrontal cortex. Simple as. |
