Vision and values can align, or they can meet in the middle. Either situation works.

In my experience, incompetence and apathy in a co-founder is the death knell.

You want Bertram Gilfoyle, not Russ Hanneman. "Personality" or "Values" are irrelevant in the matter of launching a product.

That's true, too! Certainly apathy and incompetence are deal killers. Re values alignment, I agree that meeting in the middle is the thing. That's the alignment I was referring to. It would be nearly impossible for all of one's values to align with anyone else.
