One structural problem with macroeconomics as a discipline is that if you really understand reality better than prevailing macroeconomic theory, you have many better opportunities than being a theorist or commentator. And the value of these opportunities depend on you not disclosing your insights. Eg trading, investing, entrepreneurship, working as an in-house economist bound by NDAs. |
