I've looked into it, but most "dumbphone" hardware is consolidated in proprietary Chinese manufacturing, with a high barrier to entry. As a side project I've been trying to root my Nokia 225 4g because I want to try and build a Signal client for it, but it's been difficult.

I appreciate the support! It would probably require making an alternate operating system, because the S30+ one for the Nokia is Windows trash and doesn't allow any sort of app stores or sideloading. It's an ambitious but exciting project of mine because I can dream of a dumbphone with weeks of battery life running nothing but a minimal Signal client.
