Ibis is a large hotel chain. I am not sure using this name is a good idea.

Well, it was also the name of a bird long before that
I think GP's point is that the name will need to compete with existing much more popular uses in online search results and similar limited spaces, which makes it a bad choice even the the hotel chain doesn't have an exclusive claim to the name.
It's also a bird; in ancient Egyptian mythology, Thoth had head of an ibis and was the god of writing, wisdom, knowledge, art, science, etc.
Ibis is a bird.
