Persia and Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq) were under one political entity, along with Arabia, the Levant (modern-day Palestine, Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon), Egypt, and others. Even today, many Muslims identify with their faith more than their race, ethnicity, or nationality. |
