Ask HN: What are you telling upcoming CS grads?

In the last year and a half, several recent or soon-to-be CS grads have reached out asking for advice on things like if they should do a Master's degree instead of battling the crazy job market, how they can stand out among the sea of recently-laid-off experienced engineers, if they should move to the big cities to have a better chance of getting a job, etc etc.

I feel that my thoughts on these are potentially outdated given the recent shift in the tech industry. I'm curious, do any of you have thoughts on this or other common new-grad questions for 2024?
