> Do new building codes account for this? Yes, we have code about fireblocking, minimum insulation in wall cavities, etc. for that. Structural code also updates with wood quality testing. In structural charts I've seen, old growth is around 3x stronger for the same size as newer SPF. It's about on par with an LVL product. |
