CD-RW, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, and DVD-RAM all support random access writes of some form, and can be used as live block devices. CD-R, DVD-R, and DVD+R can be used too, with limitations because it's a write once media; you can't really erase anything, so you'll fill up the disc eventually. Probably similar for BD-RE (recordable, erasable) and BD-R, too. |
