in the case of intraracial photos it seems (statistically reasoning) that google has some understanding of the search and it is intentionally ignoring the search terms in favor of something "better".

There is actually a possible innocent explanation of this.

* Google image search mostly looks at image captions.

* Relatively few people caption their pictures "Me and Jane, a proud white woman and white man". Like, only white supremacists.

* Relatively many people caption their pictures, "me and John, a white woman with a black husband". Like, interracial couples.

* "white woman" becomes associated with interracial couples.

* So does "white man".

I don't know if this is the true story, but it would be funny if so.
