What do you use it for? I'm genuinely curious because I've not had any better results than ChatGPT, though I use it a lot for code and for asking questions about history, and "what does <person x> think about <topic y>?"
For example earlier today I asked, "What did Frederick Douglass think about the US Constitution?" and "Did Patrick Henry propose any solutions for ridding Virginia of slavery?". I haven't tried those exact queries but I've tried very similar in the past and Gemini refuses to answer and lectures me about how it can't know what a person thinks. When it does answer, it often gets basic facts blatantly wrong. Like recently it told me that Karachi to Newark is a "domestic flight." I also haven't tried Gemini Advanced so there's that too
I've asked it coding questions and found the answers to be generally better than the ones I've received from ChatGPT. I should have specified, I think overall, ChatGPT is better but it seems that Gemini's knowledge of the web is more up to date than ChatGPT's.
Fascinating, are you using the new paid model for code?
Yes totally agree, where Gemini has a real advantage is in up-to-date knowledge. When it gets to the point where I can trust it more, that's gonna be a really compelling reason to switch. Everytime I ask ChatGPT something I always have to think, "could this have been answered in 2022? and would the answer have maybe changed?" and if the answer to that is "yes" then I know the result isn't going to be ideal.
