The US actually has a good pension system relative to other developed countries. Retirement plans like 401k, IRA, etc are in addition to the pension system, they don't replace it, and are frequently superior to their European counterparts both in scope and flexibility. There is plenty to complain about but pensions and retirement is one area that the US does comparatively well. |
