I thought the whole "stick a transparent oled screen on the outside of glasses" was an idea that was proven not to work. Since that seems to be the display technology, I too am skeptical.

What has been a functional revolution with the Apple Vision Pro has been the combination of a super high-res OLED display (higher than anyone has seen before in a head mounted device), plus super-low latency tracking and processing. You open a window and no matter what you do with your head or eyes, it's just absolutely locked into place -- until you actively do something to make it move.

No one else comes close.

I want to see another level of revolutionary processing beyond that. And I don't think there's another company in the world that can do that today, or likely to be able to do that in five years. Maybe ten years. Perhaps. I hope.

This device is considered “low-effort” AR, AVP is a VR device with passthrough which really only has basic capabilities for AR.
I don't think this is transparent oled screen (though it looks like in their reners) - idea seems similar to xReal that they are mirroring oled panel - in xReal it works well just their mirror beamers to bulky to use for daily use since too much distracting. Brilliant seems using some more advanced optics for light guiding.
