Why embezzle from one company when you can steal from lots of them?

This is an obvious and natural evolution of the kinds of attacks that have existed for years. It was bound to happen eventually. I think it's just sooner than people expected.

My feeling too. I doubt criminals actually have mastered realtime deepfake. It's plausible but on the balance it's more likely a 'plausible' excuse.
