I don't think it would have reduced the bill much, but generally RDS is 2x costly than EC2, but I'm guessing most of the improvement the article speaks about came from ephemeral disk i.e nvme storage its a recent feature but I think RDS Optimized Reads should achieve similar improvement in performance and get the cost from 11K to 4.2K |
