Agreed, but salaries are just a product of margins and skillset, not effort expended. In a specialized industry like software or biopharmaceuticals, companies are expected to have very high margins (think $500k-1m in revenue per employee). Given that the pipeline for these industries is constricted due to skill requirements, that's why salaries tend to be much higher. |
