Correct - I am an Emacs user and have always found working in projects hard in emacs.
textmate.el is really nice (though with emacs-starter-kit there is a built in find-file-in-project - a "project" being your git repo by default) - But it doesn't solve the problem I am having - that is, being able to see the whole project at the same time within a nested tree structure.
