I just plug my TV into a media PC with a TV tuner card. I don't let the TV connect to my network, and I treat it as a dumb display. No clue how repairable it is (almost certainly not at all), but it's lasted more than five years so far and I'm happy with it as is. I agree that the smart features are bad, but it's at least still easy to just avoid them. Although I'll admit to not having a great solution to input/control. I currently just use a wireless mouse and keyboard, but that's less than optimal in a living room situation. |
