Honestly that is such a minor change (pay the project upon completion of a feature rather than the dev who did it) which eliminates all the problems they state with the added benefit of allowing the project to plan on that money. If a donor wants feature XYZ but that’s a lower priority for the project, the project leadership could still budget for it because once the feature is done they will get that money, allowing flexibility on how the project team pays (or not) for that feature. Project leadership gets to set priorities, developers collaborate rather then compete, and the donor can make a feature happen faster and probably at a better deal then doing the contribution themselves. Seems like such a winning combo I’m surprised I haven’t heard of it until now. |
