Most television advertisementS use a technique called sound compression or sometimes just called compression. This essentially compresses the audio waveform so that the highs, mids and Lowe's are all driven at the same level which causes the audio to sound louder. They should be fairly easy to detect in order to mute the TV but I'm not sure how you can get it unmute at the right time.

I suppose you could split the HDMI signal and have one side go to the Display and the other to your device for analytics. Good luck
