The stupidity doesn't end there, OPUS/Speex has existed since 2013 and is supported everywhere. Why do they use mp3's for a medium that is mostly speech? Mind you I'm not saying, toss away mp3's, but they could offer the low/mid/high bandwidth option, same as youtube. |

Even npr’s app would cache several hundred mb of content when you started and eat up bandwidth to the point I had to stop using it. Maybe that’s been fixed but yeesh.
I regularly stream a pirate radio station and AAC 32kbps is pretty damn good.
