I was involved with historical reenactment, of the medieval kind, and have interacted with those of the later era. So, there is a lot of research that is going on, and a lot of it involves both artefacts and visual evidence ... and if we look at these, we may get a very weird picture of modern warfare. Operator, shades, action heroes, promotional materials. And most of all - propaganda and depolitization are all forces in our media, that distort the picture.
