I was a big skeptic earlier on, but I have come to appreciate systemd in recent years. That said, the section on resolved is a big one–it has been one of the only things that consistently causes me annoyance over the three years since I started primarily using Linux on the desktop. After one particularly deep rabbit hole where I never actually solved a problem where local network mDNS lookups always took exactly 6 seconds, I wound up disabling it entirely in favor of unbound, which works great but revealed that a handful of other things seem to expect resolved to be present and won’t work properly without it. |
