Some sobering statistics here https://ideas.bkconnection.com/10-awful-truths-about-publish... Summary: over 2 million self-published books each year in the US alone. Now think about blogs. But as a reader, I don’t find this much of a problem. Yes, I rely on book reviews and recommendations by friends and on author name recognition. But that seems a lot better than relying on advertisements and Amazon’s algorithm anyway. And it’s pretty much what people have done for centuries with bookshops and libraries. |
