Number of jobs is only as interesting as the wages of those jobs (real wages not nominal wages.) I wish journalists would do better.

From the article:

The report showed that inflationary pressures, despite receding elsewhere, are still prevalent in the labor market. Average hourly earnings rose 0.4% on the month and were up 4.1% from a year ago, both higher than the respective estimates for 0.3% and 3.9%. The average workweek edged lower to 34.3 hours.

The number of hours that they work matters as well (2 hours a week would be pretty low quality). I wish commenters would do better.

If there are more jobs, workers have more leverage to negotiate higher wages.
