Asking your thoughts about wrongdoings exposing web app
2 points by mzubairtahir 905 days ago
Hello everyone. I hope you are doing good. I am sharing with you my app or my idea and I want to hear your thoughts about it. Here is app: https://sociiity.com

The main purpose of this app is to enable everyone to share any wrongdoing directly with their city. Many bad things happen to ordinary people every day, and they often feel powerless. But when these incidents are shared on social media, many people see them, and it makes the authorities pay attention. This pressure makes them look into the issue and solve it quickly. If bad actions are made public, they are more likely to be fixed, and fewer bad things might happen because people will be afraid of being exposed. Lots of crimes get posted on existing big social media sites, but a lot of them go unseen because of a lack of enough followers. It's like shouting in a very large crowd - your voice gets lost. These platforms reach tons of people around the world, but that also means it's super crowded and hard for everyday folks to be heard. You need a lot of followers just to get attention, which makes it tough to speak up. Sociiity brings this solution. We enable everyone to share any wrongdoing directly with their city. By operating at the city level, we keep competition low, making it easy for users to speak up and share things with others. Our goal is to ensure that everyone's voice is heard. Currently, I have launched it in my country Pakistan.

Social media trends towards negative emotions already and you’re talking about making one that starts there already.

I don’t think it will make the world a better place. It will just make people more fearful and angry. Look at the reputation of NextDoor and Citizen. Or the Subreddit for practically any city.

What will you do if your app leads to persecution of innocent people?

We are just working in Pakistan. We will onboard authorities, making a direct channel to handle reported issues by city authorities. That makes us different then others that you mentionded
It sounds like an absolutely frightening way for oppressive governments to use unjust laws against people. I cannot imagine such a tool being used for net good in any society. I do not "trust" government, and I trust my neighbors even less.
