Post-Brexit, the incumbent Tory government has been desperate to frame everything in a "UK first" or "Great British" light, even if it is patently not true or some massaging of the data is required to make it appear so. Therefore, whilst I am not necessarily disputing the headline statement, the point I am making is that it would have been nice to see a link to an impartial, independent website (preferably with raw data attached) rather than a known Tory-leaning rag. And in relation to emissions in particular, just look at the way the present government fought the Uxbridge by-election on the basis of a complete pack of scaremongering lies about ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone). That was in August 2023, and a leopard doesn't change its spots. |
