Corporate influence aside it's a bad place to get your opinions from due to the hive minded echo chamber comment/post ranking system. Any contrarian opinion that contests the most popular opinion is simply not shown because over half the users will down vote it bury it. To make it even worse the the mods are usually unreasonably power hungry or opinionated too. You can kind of have a debate deep in a comment tree but that isn't very visible.
