I genuinely don't understand why many Wayland proponents are so eager to destroy the experience of millions of Linux users who currently depend on Xorg. It's very selfish and also decremental for the popularity of Wayland as it creates unnecessary conflict.

The "millions" of people (doubt) who depend on Xorg are free to keep using it. That's the beauty of open systems, isn't it?
It would be difficult if distros stop including an Xorg package, which is what many Wayland proponents are pushing for.
Unless maintainers step up, it is irresponsible to ship a decaying Xorg and it is unreasonable to require others to voluntarily take on that burden.
