Wayland is being developed by the former Xorg developers.

Anyone that disagrees with the Xorg's developers decision, is welcomed to jump in.

I saw on mastodon someone is already doing that, looking at a fork. That person is also a a very good programmer. I hope they get the support they need, I would help a bit financially should the need arise.

I have seen tons of such single developer forks that eventually run out of steam.

Most actual development was done by hundreds of people in the early 1980s by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

X != Xorg. Xorg was a fork since X was mostly abandoned by the original maintainers.
