Same. Then reminds me that the creation of the United States was based on strategic, coordinated genocide and I feel even worse.

It feels like a lot of modern countries are built upon the destruction of previous cultures, in one way or another. Just a shame this one had to be SO violent.
Not an inch of land on this planet isn't soaked with the blood of conquerors and the conquered alike.
I agree with your sentiment, but there are a few places that haven't been bloodily conquered, such as Antarctica.
There's also places like Bermuda that were uninhabited by humans before modern settlement.

What the people did after settling is another question, though...
