My earliest memory of using Pascal was typing in backpropagation network code from a 1990 issue of German C'T magazine into HiSoft Pascal on a 48K Spectrum. I had no knowledge of German or much of Pascal for that matter but it worked with only minor fixes. Watching the NN weights settle at a very leisurely pace was mesmerizing.
