I'm not American but at least two of those seem politically affiliated board members and both to the Democrat Party. Feels like they're aligning with the establishment by doing this.
Even looking past the political affiliation, there's nothing in the announcement that highlights their credentials to this role. The vision of the foundation is to "reclaim the internet". There has probably been no time in history when the claim to internet has been threatened by corporations as it is today. These people may be qualified in their fields, have they ever done anything to show they understand what the internet is about and the threat it faces today?
