I agree that if AI can replace software engineering, then many white collar careers will be at risk, and there will most likely be societal issues that may have solutions like UBI.

If you are in your mid-thirties and already a few years into your career, I'd just continue on the path and aim for an early retirement. If you are a junior software engineer who is just starting their career, the "AI anxiety" is most likely even higher (and for that, I do not have answers).
