Was Myst the first game of this style, or was it just the first game that I became familiar with it?

Check out the old LucasArts catalog... it's a large part of what created the genre and has some pretty great games.
It's antecedent "The Manhole" might be. It was point n click hypercard stack.
Reminds me deeply of the King's Quest series.
I wanna play Myst again.
I was thinking of Riven the other night, I'm surprised that they haven't been turned into browser-based games. Apparently the 3d assets of Riven were lost, which is a huge shame. The game was beautiful.
We see posts here from time to time about games being reversed/disassembled and then made available for other platforms. I wonder if we drop hints to those with the appropriate skill sets…
