Show HN: Stop getting disposable and non existent email address at sign-up forms
2 points by nitinksaas 938 days ago
I know it is really frustrating to get disposable or temporary emails during sign up. It directly impacts IP/sender domain reputation during an email campaign. So why not verify emails at the point of capture in the first place?

I am Nitin, Maker of Email Verification API: BounceBadger.com The API will help you verify if the submitted email address is fake, disposable, or non-existing email address in real-time. This way, you can reduce your bounce rate and your domain reputation.

We achieve this functionality by validating with regex, validating the DNS for MX records, and then connecting the recipient’s SMTP server for verification. We have maintained our database with a popular disposable email service provider. Currently, we have more than 170K domains, and we daily update our database with new disposable email domains as they are created every day. Also, we use reputed IP addresses to give you the best verification results.

Yes! This email verification API actually connects to the mail server and checks in real-time if the email exists You can check this API here: https://www.bouncebadger.com

I continually get emails "thanks for signing up" where someone gave a fakename@gmail.com and they happened to pick my email id. Ah, the stories I could tell. I've spent years trying to convince some places that I didn't sign up. I don't know how common this, but I suspect it isn't rare. It doesn't sound like your service can avoid that problem. Please think if you could find a way to overcome that too. Thank you
Yes when i was going through email verification problems, I came to know that someone uses our email id to register on some portals. But unfortunately, so far, our service primary focus on checking if an email can be delivered or not. Still thank you for providing your insights.
I was recently in the market for such an API. In my decision matrix I checked if (a) the company provides a proper privacy policy including postal address, bascially who am I sending potentially identifying information to (b) does it find the latest temp-mail.org domains, today that would be cabose.com for example. Bouncebadger has negative results on both.
Hey, Thanks for checking out the service and providing feedback.

a) We are under process to get GDPR compliance as well. So you don't have to worry about data privacy things. b) We have been daily updating newly created domains by temp-mail.org as well. We have the scripts that run at intermediate times through these disposable email domain providers to get frequently generated new domains. I explicitly ran the script now. I think i need to increase the frequency of it as well. Thanks man! Do let me know if you want to help us improve our service more. I'll be more than happy to onboard you, thanks again! :)

I tested with a valid email address. The result was ‘undeliverable’. More user pain for me…
Really? Could you please share the email address that you tested on nitink.saas@gmail.com? Atleast i will try to trace the issue which caused it as 'undeliverable'. Thanks!
I tested "me@example.com" is unknown, I reckon you can add example domain to your regex. Also tested an iCloud Hide My Email email address created 10mins ago shows undeliverable, which is understandable.
Thank you for providing feedback.you tested "me@example.com", our system connected to smtp server of example domain and waited for response but as response didn't come, it marked the response as "unknown" with reason as "connection_timeout". Regarding icloud email, we will surely work and try to cover this icloud hide my email functionality.
Entered 4 legitimate emails: 2 risky, 2 undeliverable.

Useless

Hey, I checked the rapidapi logs in your case. Did you check the reason shown in json response on landing page? It must be disposable or catch-all email addresses.

You claim you entered 4 legitimate email addresses. Just to confirm if i am right, could you please share it on nitink.saas@gmail.com?
