I have been using Addic7ed [0] in cases where I need subtitles. Any new shows/series get their subtitles uploaded extremely fast, and as I understand translations also happen there (when already not available from a streaming service). On the other hand I was using VLSub, a VLC addon, which downloads subtitles automagically.
