I work for a company which has made a huge satellite constellation and after a revision of a hardware component has run its course thousands have made their way to space, incomplete/failing units are shredded, and only a handful are kept. When the satellites eventually burn up in the atmosphere those ~3 builds are all that remain of the entire project, thousands of man-hours to engineer and build hardware that the world will never see. I think about those few survivors a lot. |
