> Is Rust merely the It-Thing at the moment that people are mimetically/socially driven to latch onto? I think so. Sociological phenomenon initially bootstrapped by a small number of "influencers". Same with golang 10 years back. Same with frameworks (angular, react). Do you remember the hype around "XML revolution" around 2000? It was arguably bigger than rust's. Somebody has to write a book on the history of software cults - it will make a fun read. :-) |
