I assume that if someone is at the point where they're willing to murder someone else, they're in an emotional place that excludes rational thought. In cases like this, it may not be that these people are stupid as much as they are blinded by anger/pain/whatever.

Nah, it’s the fact that it’s a woman perpetrator. Women always get way less time. This is cold and premeditated, not some heat of the moment incident.

I didn't claim it was a "heat of the moment" thing. Even coldly premeditated murder is coming from an emotional, not rational, mindset.
