Startup idea – Computer Vision for X
1 points by indieept 960 days ago
Over the last few years, I’ve seen many exciting startups leverage computer vision to enable checkout-free experiences for consumers in different industries. The most common use case is probably retail, where there are companies such as Amazon Go, Standard Cognition, Sensei, AiFi, Trigo, etc. However, there’s a whole bunch of time we waste on queues (in the US alone, Americans spend roughly 37 billion hours each year waiting in line) and there are very exciting opportunities to address different segments. Some I’ve seen / thought of: Checkout-free parking (I’ve discovered Metropolis), airport security, museums/public attractions, checkout at clothing stores (Uniqlo has one of the first implementing RFID chips in individual items). Any other use cases you would like to see addressed by this technology?

Cheers from Portugal

I remember IBM advertising that as a capability of future retail back about the turn of the century
