Bitcoin maximalists prefer to disassociate themselves from alternative cryptocurrencies (aka. alt-coins), all of which they consider to be inferior and unnecessary. Technically, the 'crypto' in cryptocurrency refers to cryptography, which is a technology cryptocurrencies utilize. People who want to ban 'crypto' really mean they want to ban cryptocurrencies, not cryptography. |
