I have a really hard time understanding how a healthy community can be created virtually without also having physical locality. Eg, from [1], one of the most important things about a community is "basic services." Another important trait is "civic involvement." It's all well-and-good to find like-minded people to communicate with online and professionally but true community has always included physical locality for practically all of known human history. Online communities often lack this and other essential qualities of a healthy community. ie: online communities are secondary communities while we all still need a healthy primary community to thrive.
