I think the ageism thing is not as big of an issue anymore. Yes, you will see it in startups that are run by 20somethings but I'm in my early 50s and haven't had any problem staying employed or getting offers. If you stagnate skills wise or stop trying to grow/evolve your abilities then you definitely will have issues but that's true in many industries, not just ours. |

But career changers will have a rough time - e.g. I remember a social worker who went back to school in his late 30s looking for an internship(as a developer), he had a much harder time getting hired than someone in the same position in their early 20s.
