I talked about localized marine cloud brightening, but why would you choose something toxic like SO2? There’s a reason why the first emissions trading market was one that controlled SO2 emissions: acid rain. In the case of the arctic there are non-atmospheric (i.e. surface) interventions being investigated as well to change the local albedo. In fact the best way to brighten the arctic (and glaciers) is to reduce particulate emissions — and it’s happening! |
